Who We Are
EGW is the premier utility distributor in the South Central Region of the US. The company was started in the Spring of 2001 by Phil and Liz Wiegers of Flower Mound, TX. Phils background was in utility sales and Liz’s as an educator. “We were confident that the market was ready for a distribution company totally focused on service and dedicated to understanding the needs of the customer.” says Phil Wiegers on the couples decision to start EGW.
In May of 2001, EGW was incorporated and called the Wiegers home the companies’ place of business. This was the starting point for several growth opportunities for EGW. Jeff Burnett joined EGW in August of 2001 and later became a partner in January 2002. Today Burnett maintains the West Texas sales territory for the company.
As the company continued to expand, EGW moved into its first office and warehouse facility in November 2001. Three years later the company outgrew that facility and moved into its current location at 1408 Hutton Drive in Carrollton, TX.
In April 2004, Ford Femal joined EGW as a Territory Manager in South Texas and New Mexico. Femal became EGW’s third partner in January 2006 and continues to serve his initial sales territory.
Today, Wiegers serves as President of EGW. Burnett and Femal are Vice Presidents. All three of the partners are fully involved in the sales team that makes EGW the success that it is today. Since 2001, EGW has grown to include six Territory managers and support staff of eight. While EGW’s headquarters is still in Carrollton, TX the company has recently expanded into a second location just Northeast of Austin, TX. The expansion will allow EGW to better serve customers in the south Texas by utilizing the companies’ fleet to deliver to major metropolitan areas such as Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.
EGW continues to grow and now serves the natural gas distribution, waterworks, sewer, plumbing, oilfield, and pipeline markets in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico and Kansas.
